New York, NY, November 7, 2022 – U.S. Foot & Ankle Specialists, LLC (“USFAS”), a portfolio company of NMS Capital (“NMS”), announced today that it has acquired Comprehensive Foot & Ankle Centers, which operates two clinics in Kentucky, and Palmetto Podiatry Group of Anderson (“Palmetto Podiatry Group”), which operates one clinic in South Carolina.
Comprehensive Foot & Ankle Centers is a full-service podiatry practice dedicated to providing minimally invasive treatments for the complete spectrum of foot and ankle injuries and conditions. The practice works with its patients to arrive at individualized treatment plans for addressing sports injuries, fractures, diabetic neuropathy, bunions, and more, while prioritizing conservative approaches to treatment over surgery whenever possible. With offices in Shepherdsville and Louisville, the practice serves patients from all over Kentucky’s largest metro area, welcoming new patients and accepting most insurance plans.
The practice was founded by Dr. Christopher Hubbard, who has over 20 years of experience as a practitioner and specializes in bunionectomy, orthoscopy, and sports medicine, among other services. He is affiliated with UofL Health Jewish Hospital and Norton Hospital. Dr. Joshua Coger has been in practice since 2014, specializing in forefoot and rear foot treatment and ankle fractures. He is affiliated with Norton Healthcare. Dr. Phillip Hasler is affiliated with the University of Louisville Hospital, and Norton Healthcare, and specializes in heel pain, ingrown toenails, warts, and Achilles tendinitis. He has been practicing podiatry since 2013.
“All of us at Comprehensive Foot & Ankle Centers are excited to be partnering with USFAS to support our goal of delivering a smooth, straightforward, and supportive experience to our patients,” said Dr. Hubbard. “With USFAS’ administrative support, we’ll be able to expand our capabilities and continue to focus on providing our patients with the personalized care they deserve and have come to expect from our staff.”
Founded in 1996 by Dr. James Rose, who leads the practice today, Palmetto Podiatry Group sees patients in its Anderson office for a full range of common foot and ankle conditions. The practice emphasizes a minimally invasive approach to podiatry, preferring to use surgical measures as an option of last resort. Dr. Rose and his team specialize in general podiatric care and stay on the cutting edge of the field, employing MLS Laser Therapy, the Onyfix nail correction system, and other technologies to treat patients as effectively as possible.
Dr. Rose, who moved his practice to Anderson after previously practicing in northern Virginia, is certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He completed his residency at Monsignor Clement Kern Hospital for Special Surgery in Detroit, Michigan, which was among the first hospitals in the country devoted exclusively to the practice of foot and ankle surgery. He is also a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association.
Joining Dr. Rose in practice at Palmetto Podiatry Group are Dr. David Somers, Dr. Crista Ziccardi, and Dr. Scott Bastian. Dr. Somers joined the practice in 2009, and is the current secretary of the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association, certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Ziccardi, who joined the practice in 2014, is board certified in podiatric medicine, a fellow in the American College of Podiatric Medicine, and a member of both the American and the South Carolina Podiatric Medical Associations. Dr. Bastian recently completed his residency at Bridgeport Hospital in the Yale New Haven Health system, during which he trained in wound care, reconstructive surgery, and limb salvage.
“Our team is pleased to be joining the USFAS network as we work to bring the finest in podiatric care to our patients,” said Dr. Rose. “With administrative support from USFAS, we’ll be able to focus even more individually on our patients and ensure they’re receiving the treatment they need to heal to live their lives to their fullest.”
“Practices like Comprehensive Foot & Ankle Centers and Palmetto Podiatry Group are such an asset to our network, and we couldn’t be happier about welcoming them into our organization,” said Cotton Hawes, Chief Executive Officer at USFAS. “We look forward to working with Dr. Hubbard, Dr. Rose, and their colleagues by providing the support they need to deliver first-rate podiatric care to their patients and carry on the legacy of their practice.”
With these partnerships, Comprehensive Foot & Ankle Centers and Palmetto Podiatry Group will benefit from USFAS’ extensive administrative and support services, which include top-of-the-line information technology, a dedicated clinical compliance team, electronic medical records, payor credentialing and contracting, revenue cycle management, human resources, finance and accounting, and business development.
