New York – November 26, 2012 – New MainStream Capital (“NMS”), a private equity firm specializing in strategic equity investments and leveraged buyouts of lower middle market companies, is pleased to announce that it has sold its investment in MCCI Holdings, LLC to Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM).
MCCI is a leading provider of medical management services for managed care organizations, providing high quality healthcare services to more than 100,000 members located in Florida and Texas. Founded in 1998 by Dr. Jose Armas and Dr. Eduardo Alarcon, today MCCI operates 33 community medical centers and two public trust facilities, and employs 105 primary care physicians and 200 affiliated specialists.
Since making its investment in 2006, the NMS team has worked closely with management throughout its ownership tenure to evolve the business, both strategically and financially. This included expansion of the Company’s infrastructure, selected tuck-in acquisitions, and growth into new markets in north Florida and Texas. During the period of NMS’ involvement with MCCI, the company more than tripled its membership and revenue, and significantly increased profitability.
